My annual 'deck the house out for Christmas and then spend a week recovering' time coincided with 'get a sinus infection that doesn't care if I am taking ammoxicillin' and thus my posting now. This past week was supposed to be 'Suzanne's National Week of Pre-Christmas Knitting', that didn't happed so much either so I am aiming for "A marathon weekend of knitting, who cares if I have three children who need my attention? Daddy is home, go ask him and direct all future questions to him for the duration of the weekend."
Before I show and tell what I am currently working I will answer two questions from my last post.
Sarah: It is great to hear from you! I am sending you an email with suggestions. You'll be knitting in no time! Snowing Montana is a wonderful place to knit.
Mollie: Ok, I will tell.
It is my plan to gather up as much of the world's Dale Sisik (not responsible for draining entire Little Knits site of Sisik) supply as I can and make it my own. I have become a one woman Sisik rescue group. One day there will be no Sisik left, not even on eBay. I fear for that day. So I've taken stock of the Sisik in my studio. I've got a good group:
Those crazy Norwegians discontinued the sale of this yarn to the US thinking that American knitters weren't loving it. How wrong they were. I made my Norwegian Olympic gloves out of it and am currently using it for my LEGWARMERS – the legwarmers I began two months ago and haven’t worked on since. I am going to make sweaters. I am making my sister give me some Sisik for Christmas. I am going to knit my husband a sweater from this because he doesn't appreciate the socks I knit for him. I hunt down stash busting sites on the internet where knitters are looking to unload their Sisik.
In short, I love the yarn, not to slight the rest of the yarn in my stash.
Just last week I found four lonely balls of it at the The Lamb's Wool in Lansdale.
They are now safe in my studio where they will get the love and respect they deserve.
I am currently working on some elfin slippers for Abby and Harry for Christmas. Tonight will be the night that I finish them, as opposed to last night, and the night before that, both nights when I was determined that I would finish them.
Abby’s slippers just need some leather soles.
Harry slipper needs its mate.
And leather soles. Unlike the last time I put leather soles on slippers I am going to use leather lacing this time.
