I have some painful hand strain. Normal, sure, for anyone who works with their hands. Except I haven't had any real problems in years. What could be causing it now?
I went through a mental checklist to try to figure it out. What have I been doing differently?
Knitting more? Sadly no, not unless the children become completely self-sufficient, and that hasn't happened yet. Spinning more? Weaving more? Playing the guitar more? More home improvement projects than usual? More pottery class? Nope to all.
I had to wrack my brain to figure it out. And then it came to me.
Initially I was in denial, but here's the problem:
My new phone, so innocent looking.
Here's the true culprit.
I have loved the game of solitaire since my grandfather taught it to me when I was 7. I LOVE playing the game on my Palm. I love the fake-card-shuffling and slapping sounds it makes. I love being able to tap the screen to move the cards. I even love the silly 'awards' the program gives while playing.
Unfortunately I have loved the game too much (I'm not going to be super specific about the amount of time I've spent playing this, but suffice to say the game awarded me for playing for a rather large number of hours recently). The Palm is hurting my palm.
This is so embarrassing. I'm a grown woman after all.
So I've put the phone down for everything but actual phone use (for a whole day, YAY!) and have ignored the call of the game (which if you aren't into solitaire right now you are thinking "what's the big deal? It's a game you play by yourself!", but if you are into it, you know how it MAKES you play 'just another round'.
I have an easy hand therapy project
A sideways knit garter-stitch vest in Noro Iro color number 67. On positively gigantic size 13 (US) needles. Nice and easy.
Bad Palm (Centro).
